Pulpotomy
A pulpotomy is a common dental procedure performed to save a primary (baby) tooth that has been affected by decay reaching the pulp, or nerve, inside the tooth. During this treatment, the infected portion of the pulp in the crown of the tooth is carefully removed while keeping the healthy root portion intact.
A special medicated material is then placed to soothe and protect the remaining pulp, followed by a durable restoration such as a crown to strengthen the tooth. This procedure helps relieve pain, prevent infection from spreading, and maintain the tooth’s natural space in the mouth until it’s ready to fall out naturally.
